The Simple Woman's Daybook - March 16, 2009

FOR TODAY... March 16, 2009
Outside my window...70 Degrees…A beautiful Southern California Day

I am thinking...about a friend who had a drink after 6 ½ years of sobriety. My heart is breaking thinking about it. Although I am not in AA, I have found great strength in her story and have tried my hardest to support her in any way I can. I know that she is wonderfully resilient! I hope with all hopes that she digs deep and finds the power that God has given her to take back control and get back up on the horse!

I am thankful for...a gracious church, we were nominated for a scholarship for “A weekend to Remember”. It’s a marriage retreat/seminar that will be in our area in May! My husband and I are really looking forward to a weekend of spending time together with God, working on the bread and butter of our marriage.

From the kitchen...The Yummiest Shepard's Pie EVER!! I made it last night for our “Green” Sunday dinner. My Dad ate 3 helpings. It was a true pleasure having him enjoy something I made so much! His mother was a wonderful cook, I think I might have hit a sweet spot for him!

I am wearing... Black top, Black Pants, Black Shoes….No I am not going to a funeral…It makes me look skinny!

I am creating... A tote bag for my bible study stuff.

I am going... to Bible Study Fellowship tonight. I missed the last two weeks, and have felt the longing of being in fellowship with these ladies. I am really looking forward to tonight's time!

I am reading... “The Love Dare”, Still working on “A Lady of High Regard”

I am hoping...that God will lift up and care for my Niece who just told us that she is 7 months pregnant. We now have two young women in our family that are about to be single mothers. Their choices haven’t always been terribly rational or well thought out, but we hope and pray that we can support them to make good decisions in the future for their children.

I am hearing...lots of woes in the company I work for. We laid off 33 people on Friday, 11 of which were from my department. There is a bittersweet feeling of still having a job, while others we care for do not.

Around the house... smells of clean goodness! I worked so hard at the end of last week to get everything picked up for the weekend. My husband and I have continued to pick up and put away before we go to bed every night. It’s really refreshing when my home is put together.

One of my favorite things... My Ipod, it keep me moving and grooving.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Packing for our Vegas Trip this Weekend, Doing a little shopping for something special to wear this weekend, Loving on my Husband.

Here is picture thought I am sharing...

My Shepard's Pie from "Green" Sunday Dinner last night, with packets of sour dough bread warming.

Love on Wednesday - March 11, 2009

This week has been an exercise in our faith and love.

Ryan learned last month that his current position will be ending in June, as they move the operations of his company to Texas. After almost 9 years in the same company, the news came with a striking force both to our future plans, and to my husbands heart. As we have watched our friends and family deal with wounds of business and the economy we are determined to stand firm in our faith. We know God holds the plans of our future, and that every door he closes, he opens another one.

I have been praying that God will lead my husband to an opportunity that will stretch and grow him as well as help us with our Goal for me to be a stay at home wife and mother when that day comes. I want him to work in an environment that he loves, and has a passion for, as well as an opportunity to share our faith. My husband has been doing some soul searching and praying, hoping that God will give some direction.

Yesterday my sweet husband had an interview with one of our Sister companies (I work for the parent company of the company he currently works with). The opportunity is something he is very excited about, although it is something he doesn't necessarily have a lot of experience in. He does however have lots of years in the industry, which seems to give him a foot in the door.

He was so very handsome when he left for work yesterday in his suit and tie, but those moments had passed and he arrived home being particularly silly from the stresses of the day.

I think he might hurt me, when he finds out I posted these...but he is just too cute not too...hehehehe

With my best attempts at calm anticipation, I pray today that this endeavor is in God's plan for us. I also thank God for this man who makes conscious decisions to make his marriage the center of his life, next to his relationship to God. I am not always the best helper homemaker, but he is a wonderful servant leader! I am truly blessed!

The Simple Woman's Daybook - March 9, 2009

FOR TODAY…March 9, 2009

Outside my window...55 Degrees and Cloudy

I am thinking...about my niece who is having a baby soon. New life is so exciting, everyday miracles! God is so good

I am thankful for...my husband, I am reminded of the song God Only Knows by the beach boys.
I am wearing...turquoise and black top, black slacks, and sandal heals.

I am creating... Still working on my apron. So much going on, I didn’t much have time this weekend to work on it. I hope to get working on it this weekend.

I am going...to Kohl’s tonight with my husband to help him pick out a new shirt to wear with his suit on his interview tomorrow.

I am reading...A Lady of High Regard – LOVING THIS Book, Also working on the Love Dare.

I am hoping...that my husband’s interview goes well tomorrow.

I am hearing... Lots of whining about the time change….I have to admit…I even hear it in my own mind…

Around the house...Laundry, Cleaning, and spring time organizing!

One of my favorite things...The diaper bag I got my niece for her shower gift from Dungaree Dolly. It is just the cutest thing ever! She makes each bag customized with wonderful retro type fabrics. Can’t wait to get a laptop bag from her!

A few plans for the rest of the week: We have a birthday get together tonight for my nephew. Dinner plans with an old friend of my husband’s on Saturday, and GREEN Sunday Dinner in celebration of Saint Patrick’s Day.

Here is picture thought I am sharing...
These are 4 of the nieces and newphews I aquired when I got married. I am an only child...so I didnt know if I would have the title of Aunt. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT, and them!

Thankful Thursday - March 5,2009

Today I am very Thankful for whomever designed Rat Traps.

We have experienced great aggravation over these little creatures and as of this morning we think we might have a resolution.

I am a total city girl, but felt myself channeling the great heroines of the western frontier as I poked and prodded to make sure the trap had done its job.

With mixed emotions (I am a sucker for any dead little creature) I ran practically screaming to the dumpster (If any of my neighbors happened to be looking out their windows...I am sure they are still laughing) and then returned to disinfected my kitchen.

This will be the fourth unwanted critter in 3 months that has tried to call our condo home....I hope its the last!

This episode has reminded me of how Satan works in our lives. He sneaks into the dark small places of our hearts and begins to make his home. As we notice him causing chaos we make changes in our lives, changes based on the decision to cope with him, or the decision to trap him and take him out to the trash. With great anticipation I hope with all hopes that I can use the courage I found today and trap and trash Satan, so that my heart will be a clean place for Jesus.

Love on Wednesday - March 4, 2009

My sweet husband took a personal day on Tuesday to take some time to rest to help get over his cold and a pulled back muscle.

I happen to be a bright and cheery morning bird. My guy isn’t terribly good at mornings; he is one of those “walks with the night” creatures. To my great surprise I got out of the shower to hear banging and whisking sounds coming from my kitchen. To my disbelief….This is what I found!!
He had made me Breakfast!

With yummy eggs and juice I was prepared to start my day….feeling wonderfully loved!!

The Simple Woman's Daybook - March 2, 2009

FOR TODAY…..March 2, 2009

Outside my window... 63 degrees…with beautiful blue skies!

I am thinking... about my bible study for the week. We are in Numbers 13-14. I have been amazed at how many times the Israelites complained and doubted God, only to realize that I am not so very different. EYE OPENING!!!

I am thankful for... my parents, my friends, my home, my church

From the kitchen... Cherry Cheese Cake, one of my husband’s favorites.

I am wearing... Black and White Top, Black Slacks, Open Toed Sandal heals.

I am creating... Finally got my apron pattern still looking for some fabric. Excited to find time to put it together.

I am going...to work, then to BSF tonight.

I am reading...A Lady of High Regard by Tracie Peterson. This was on a reading list of a bloggy friend. Is been a great suggestion so far!

I am hoping... That my husband has total healing ASAP! He has been fighting a cold bug that has been going around and a pulled muscle in his back.

I am hearing... Lots of grumbling about our fridges at work being cleaned out this weekend. The cleaning crew did this on an unscheduled weekend and a lot of people lost their food, Tupperware, and lunch containers.

Around the house...Our unwelcome furry friend is still attempting to cohabitate with us.

One of my favorite things... Fruit Roll Ups! A childhood snack that has followed me into adult hood, they are my favorite evening snack.

A few plans for the rest of the week: BFS Tonight, Cup Cake Decorating on Thursday Night in preparation of a Baby Shower. Baby Shower for my Niece on Saturday, Birthday Party for my Nephew on Sunday

Here is picture thought I am sharing...

(This was the bueatiful sky that greeted me this morning as I walked the puppies! I am so thankful that the Sun decided to come up today!)
